ok, I was looking at the oriental cookbook today, and here is the recipe for barbecued pork, I hope this is an acceptable recipe...

This cold, sliced pork is served by many restaurants with a dip of hot mustard sauce or chile sauce to be mixed with soy sauce. It also is used in recipes, such as Steamed Buns. You can buy it too, if you have access to a Chinese meat shop.

2 pounds pork butt

1 clove garlic, minced or mashed

About 1/4-inch slice fresh ginger root, mashed

1 teaspoon sugar

2 teaspoons sherry

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons honey

1/2 teaspoon "five-spice"

1/2 teaspoon red food coloring

Ask the meat man to bone the meat and cut it into 1/2 to 3/4-inch strips. Combine the garlic, ginger root, sugar, salt, sherry, soy sauce, honey, five-spice, and food coloring. Pour over the meat and marinate for 1 hour.

Remove meat from marinade and roast in a 325 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours, basting frequently with the marinade and drippings. Makes 8-12 appetizer servings.
