Chinese Recipe : Honey Apples

One of the favorite Chinese desserts both inside China and outside, Honey Apples is apple rings dipped in syrup then in batter and finally deep fried

* 5 cooking apples, peeled, cored and cut into 4 rings.

* 3/4 confectioners' sugar

* 1 lemon, sliced

Syrup:

* 2/3 cup brown sugar

* 4 tbsp. clear honey

* 1 cup water

* Juice of 2 lemons

For syrup, add sugar, honey and water into a large saucepan. Bring to boil, then boil for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in lemon juice.

Batter:

* 1 cup flour

* 1/4 tsp. salt

* 2 tsp. sugar

* 3 egg yolks

* 3/4 cup water

* 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten

* Vegetable oil for deep fry

Sift the flour and salt into a bowl and stir in the sugar. Beat in the egg yolks and water until the mixture forms a smooth batter. Quickly fold in the egg whites.

1. Drop the apple rings into the syrup and carefully stir the apples to coat the rings thoroughly with the syrup. Set aside for 1 hour.

2. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the apple rings to the batter, and stir to coat them completely. Discard the syrup. Set the apples aside.

3. Fill a large saucepan one-third full with oil and heat until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit on a deep fat thermometer.

4. Carefully lower the apple rings into the oil, a few at a time, and fry for 2 to 3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crisp. Remove from the oil and drain on kitchen towels.

5. Put the confectioners' (icing) sugar on a large plate. Dip the apples in the sugar and arrange them on a serving dish.

6. Decorate with lemon slices.



Chinese Recipe : Almond Biscuit

* 2 1/2 cups all鈭抪urpose flour

* 2 tsp baking powder

* 1/2 cup margarine or butter

* 1 cup granulated sugar

* 1 egg

* 1 tsp. almond essence

* blanched almonds for decoration

* beaten egg for glazing

1. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Cream the margarine (or butter) and sugar together until light, white and fluffy. Beat in the egg and almond essence. Stir in the sifted dry ingredients to make a stiff dough.

2. Form the mixture into balls about 1 鈭?1.5 inch diameter and place these on a greased baking tray. Place half an almond (split lengthways) on each ball and press to flatten slightly. Brush with beaten egg.

3. Bake in a moderate oven (350掳 F / 180掳C) for 20 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack.



Chinese Recipe : Crispy Noodles (Appetizer)

* 2 to 3 c. cooking oil, vegetable (depends on size of wok or pot used)

* 1 pkg. egg roll wrappers, thoroughly thawed, (do not use spring roll wrappers)

* 1 jar Duck sauce

* 1 bottle Chinese hot mustard sauce

1. Put oil into a hot wok. Heat oil until hot, place a wooden chop stick, if bubbles vigorously, oil is ready.

2. Cut egg roll wrappers into 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch strips. Place strips into hot oil, 2 or 3 at a time. When starting to brown, turn over, remove quickly when golden brown. Avoid burning. Place on paper towel. Serve with Duck sauce and mustard.



Chinese Recipe - Pork Egg Rolls

Great as an appetizer or an addition to a rice-meal.

* 3 tbsp. corn starch

* 2 tbsp. hoisin sauce

* 2 tbsp. soy sauce

* 3 tbsp. corn oil, divided

* 1 lg. onion, thinly sliced, separated into rings

* 1/2 lb. bean sprouts

* 1 (8 oz.) can sliced bamboo shoots, drained, coarsely chopped

* 1 tbsp. minced ginger root (about 1cup)

* 1/2 lb. boneless pork, diced

* 10 egg roll wrappers

* 3 c. corn oil

1. In small bowl; stir together corn starch, hoisin sauce and soy sauce until smooth; set aside.

2. In wok, heat 2 tablespoon corn oil over high heat. Add onion, stir-fry 1 minute.

3. Add bean sprouts and bamboo shoots; stir-fry 2 minutes longer. Remove.

4. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon corn oil. Add ginger, stir fry 30 seconds.

5. Add pork; stir-fry 1 to 2 minutes or until lightly browned. Return vegetables to wok. Restir corn starch mixture; stir into pork mixture until well blended. Turn wok off. Remove pork mixture and cool. Wash and dry wok.

6. To fill egg rolls, place one egg roll wrapper with one point toward you. Spoon about 1/3 cup pork mixture horizontally across and just below center of wrapper. Moisten all edges of wrapper with water. Fold bottom corner over filling and roll halfway up wrapper, making an elongated roll. Fold two side corners inward over the filling. Roll up toward the remaining corner; press gently to seal. Repeat with remaining egg roll wrappers and filling.

7. In wok, heat 3 cups corn oil to 375掳F. Carefully add egg rolls, two at a time. Fry 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with hoisin sauce, sweet and sour sauce or Chinese mustard sauce.

o, i no tons. just go to stop and shop and buy some chinese food. divide it into snack size portions and eat! you can decorate it with pretty stuff like spices and crap.
Dumplings?Does anyone know any chinese snack recipes.?
I doubt this is a Chinese recipe, but it uses a Chinese ingredient! We make these simple snacks quickly and you can use different flavors like white chocolate, butterscotch or chocolate chips:



Melt 1 bag of chocolate chips on stove on LOW, stirring constantly until melted.



Pour in half bag of crispy chow mein noodles. Stir gently until covered. Add rest of noodles and stir.



On wax paper, drop noodle mixture by teaspoonfuls. Cool completely.
